Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce

President's Message President’s Mes

The lazy, hazy days of summer are upon us. At the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce we enter the summer months filled with excitement and expectation of wonderful things to come. We continue to work hard to bring you events that get you outdoors, experiencing all that Metuchen has to offer. We hope you took the time to enjoy our 4th Annual JuneBug ArtFest in downtown Metuchen each Friday night in June. My thanks to the JuneBug ArtFest committee, led by Linda LaStella and a committee of very talented artists and community volunteers. This event gets bigger and better each year! Special thanks to Caroline Woodruff, our outgoing Chamber Administrator, for her hard work on the JuneBug Artfest and all the annual events and activities she has led over the last 6+ years on behalf of the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce. She will be missed. If you have not had the opportunity to check out our new Metuchen Market Day I encourage you to stop down to the Pearl Street parking lot (at the corner of Pearl and New Streets) each Saturday now through October between the hours of 9 am – 2 pm. Food shoppers will experience a livelier, expanded farmer’s market this year, thanks to the efforts of the Metuchen Chamber of Commerce and the new Metuchen Market Day committee. The Farmers Market has been a mainstay of the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce event schedule each year. With the help of a dedicated group of citizen volunteers, our market has been reinvented. The new market reflects the growing desire of our residents for fresh, locally grown produce and products with a broader array of choices. I commend our Market Day Committee on a job well done and know that we are in for a treat this season. And don’t forget to come out for our Cruise Nights the first Wednesday of each month through September. You’ll enjoy the cars, great music and fun for the kids. Grab a bite to eat or cool off with an ice cream. We encourage you to play and shop locally in support of your Chamber members! Remember, time flies when you’re having fun. Before you know it, the much anticipated Metuchen Country Fair scheduled for October 1st will be right around the corner. Our theme this year is “Hats”. The Fair is planned for non-profit organizations and Chamber members. You can obtain an application card, which is your reservation for a booth space by going to http://www.metuchenchamber.com/flyers/561.pdf And finally, a fond farewell goes out to Leah Kane who served on the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce for many years. As an active community member and volunteer, Leah was responsible for bringing our Chamber Connection Newsletter to life each quarter. We appreciate her hard work and guidance and wish her and her family well in their new home in Pennsylvania. Here’s to an enjoyable and relaxing summer! Helene Zahn
